Realizing the BA’s mission to be “the world’s window on Egypt, and Egypt’s window on the world”, the Arts Center Cinema Program for 2013 screens 107 films from 36 different countries, representing all continents and several cultures.

The Program presents 64 short films, 31 fiction films, and 12 documentaries, in addition to the special programs and the ASIFA Egypt Program, the regional chapter of Internationale du Film d'Animation (ASIFA). The films come from 12 Arab countries, 11 European counties, as well as 4 countries from the Americas, 4 from Asia, and 3 from Africa, in addition to films from Australia and New Zealand.

The Program commemorates Shakespeare’s Day on 23 April, Europe Day on 9 May, Egyptian Cinema Day on 21 June, and Naguib Mahfouz’s Day on 11 December. It will also celebrate the centennial of the Indian Cinema, and 50 years of the Algerian Cinema, besides the centennial of the birth of French Director René Clément; Egyptian Directors Kamal Selim, Fateen Abd El-Wahab, and Hussein Sedky; and Directors of Photography Abd El-Halim Nasr and Ahmed Khorshid.

The Program also presents, for the first time in Egypt, a special program screening the films of Brazilian Director Glauber Rocha, and another on American Director Orson Welles, in addition to the winning films in the Luxor African Film Festival (LAFF), and 6 documentaries on the Arab Spring.
